BF6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun using personalized games set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four classes of assignments, but while the majority simply offer cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of acquiring twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

A number of these locked weapons may soon earn a place on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

A different forum member brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is tough enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and possibly Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when doing the challenges in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

At the moment, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous player experience in future updates.
