Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
