The carrier to provide no-cost fast in-flight wifi via Starlink agreement

Flyers aboard the airline will soon use fast internet during flights without charge following a major partnership with Elon Musk's satellite provider.

Free plus Fast Connectivity Available to Everyone

British Airways announced that this free, “quick and reliable” connectivity provision through SpaceX will be accessible to passengers in economy, business, and first class starting soon.

Broad Rollout Over Several Airlines

The umbrella firm for BA, International Airlines Group, announced it had secured an agreement involving Starlink for providing internet access across 500-plus jets operated by its carriers, such as the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, and the low-cost airline.

Uninterrupted Internet starting at Gate to Landing

The airline noted that this introduction for the technology formed part of a multi-billion pound “transformation” initiative that will deliver smooth wifi coverage to travelers from boarding to arrival, even when they are flying across seas and isolated areas.

Travelers can connect multiple gadgets and they will not require a unique password.

Revolutionary for the airline as well as our customers, elevating their experience during flights on BA through providing passengers smooth wifi from start to finish.”

Present Connectivity Options

Limited connectivity access is presently available for BA passengers through most of the airline's jets using their .air platform.

Members of the airline's loyalty club may send communications plus plain-text messages during flights at no cost, while passengers who want to stream music, movies, and movies throughout the journey if not travelling in business or first can expect to pay between four pounds ninety-nine and ÂŁ21.99 per wifi plan.

The Satellite Network

The provider uses a system of thousands with orbiting devices and it's managed under SpaceX’s company.

Ongoing Improvements at the Airline

Their management have been focusing to revitalize British Airways back after a long time with financial constraints, system failures, industrial action, and large-scale layoffs.

The airline noted that application of smart technology had helped it to achieve the airline's punctuality to peak performance since 2012.

Profit Performance

In August, the carrier announced a increase in financial performance during H1 recently, helping to push its owner earnings upward.

The group is due to announce their earnings covering Q3 this summer shortly.

Recent SpaceX Partnerships

British Airways’ news arrives days following mobile phone operator Virgin Media O2 revealed it was partnering alongside SpaceX to enhance cellular coverage across remote areas across the United Kingdom, by allowing consumers to easily connect handsets through space-based systems when no standard cellular service can be found.
